More hygiene and infection protection with HEWI

Hygiene has always been particularly important in the Care, sector. But today hygiene and infection protection are also becoming determining factors in the interior design of public and semi-public buildings. In this article, you will learn how materials, surfaces and clever details can make more hygiene possible.

Even with good cleaning intervals, handrails, door handles and sanitary equipment represent fertile ground for a multitude of pathogens and thus an increased risk of infection. But with innovative materials, hygienic workmanship and intelligent functions hygiene can be more effectively supported and significantly reduce the risk of infection.

Hygienic materials reduce infections

Besides infection through the air we breathe, the transmission of viruses and bacteria via the hands is the second most common source of infection. And the choice of materials has a decisive influence on hygienic product design. Stainless steel has a non-porous and is thus a particularly hygienic surface. Minimal care is enough to prevent dirt or microorganisms from accumulating. It’s a material that is extremely robust and insensitive to scratches. Stainless steel products are also extremely resistant to cleaning agents and disinfectants.

High-gloss polyamide also has a non-porous surface and optimal cleaning properties. This makes the choice of material a key component of product development at HEWI. The innovative surface active+ has also been enriched with micro-silver, which continuously reduces the growth of germs on the surface and in this way offers an effective hygiene plus for corridors and sanitary areas.

How well thought-out details improve hygiene

At HEWI we also make sure that our products have the smallest possible number of joints and connection points where dirt and water can accumulate. This is particularly important at the washbasin or in the shower.

Because of wall unevenness, fastening rosettes of railing systems and shower handrails are often not completely flat with the wall. A sealing element provides a quick and reliable seal.

The wall brackets, for example of the folding grab rails, as well as the fixing rosettes of the grab rails from System 900 can be equipped with these sealing elements. The products are also designed so that water does not collect on the surfaces and can easily drain off.

From the moment we enter to the moment we leave sanitary rooms equipped with common dispenser systems, we touch up to 20 objects - starting with the door handle to the soap dispenser to the top of the tap. Which is why we recommend touch-free product solutions to minimise the risk of infection. As well as our classic sanitary solutions, HEWI also offers a large selection of products in a touch-free Sensoric version
